The Road to Inclusion and Equality for People with Disabilities
In July 2021, 8 years after the Province committed to implement the recommendations of the Roadmap, the DRC released a Report that tracks the Province’s progress in closing institutions and expanding community based options, as they committed to in 2013. The picture is dire: not a single institution has been closed, policies limiting long term admissions to institutions have been quietly shelved, and waitlists for services continue to balloon.
